FAQ

Purchasing & Return Policy

What is your refund policy?

While our lowcarb protein pasta comes as close to a regular pasta experience as it gets, its not the exact same as regular pasta. For that to happen, you'd need lots of starch and carbs!

If you are unsure whether you will like our pasta, please only purchase a 2 pack of the pasta as we do not offer refunds on larger purchases. We will gladly refund your purchase on a 2 pack minus a $10 shipping and handling fee if you were unhappy with your purchase.

Where can I purchase your product?

Customers can purchase our products directly on our website at kaizenfoodcompany.com. We ship anywhere in the US and are working hard to begin shipping to our international community as soon as possible.

We are selectively rolling out to specialty grocery stores throughout the US and would love to join your neighborhood. Let your local store know if you’d like to see us on their shelves!

Pasta & Cooking Directions

What does your pasta taste like? How about the texture?

Our pasta is made of the lupini bean, so it tastes pretty similar to a chickpea or lentil pasta. The pasta cooks up to a great pasta texture and consistency in just 5-7 minutes.

What’s the best way to cook your pasta?

Just cook it as you would normal pasta - in a large pot of salted boiling water.

Depending on the shape, our pasta cooks in anywhere from 4.5-7 minutes.

We invite you to experiment with cooking times to find the right cook time for you and your family.

General Product Questions

What are the ingredients in your products?

The foundation of Kaizen is high quality lupini bean flour. We also use fava bean protein, tapioca starch, and xanthan gum.

What makes your products low carb?

In short, instead of regular flour or semolina, we use lupini bean flour! Lupini beans are versatile, low in carbs, and have a great nutrition profile. They have long been considered a superfood and pack a ton of protein, fiber, and nutrients.

How many carbs does your pasta contain?

Our pasta contains only 6 net carbs. Net carbs are calculated by taking the total carbohydrates in the product (in this case 21) and deducting the total dietary fiber (in this case 15). 21 grams of total carbohydrates, minus 15 grams of total dietary fiber, results in 6 net carbs.

Are your ingredients non-GMO?

Yes.

Are your products diabetic friendly?

We have a lot of customers with diabetes that enjoy our products. As always, consult your doctor to determine if a particular food is right for you.

Are your products Kosher?

Yes, we are certified by Oregon Kosher.

Are your products allergen free?

While our pasta does not use any top 8 allergens as an ingredient, our pasta is manufactured in a facility that may produce products with other allergens.

Where are your products made?

All of our products are made in the United States

How long is the shelf life?

Our pasta is shelf stable and is best enjoyed within 1 year of your purchase, though our pasta is good for upto 2 years. Please store pasta cartons in a cool, dry space to best maintain freshness.

Why is your product more expensive than regular pasta?

True to our name, Kaizen, we will continuously improve which includes doing everything we can to make our product more affordable over time. At this time, there are three factors:

1. Higher quality ingredients are expensive. Our ingredients are naturally more expensive compared to normal starchy ingredients. Due to the current economic environment, prices have almost doubled for many of our ingredients over the last year.

2. We take zero shortcuts. We only purchase the highest quality ingredients from reputable suppliers who have the highest quality standards. We tried and tested a number of ingredients during our testing, and in many cases chose the more expensive option in order to provide you with the best possible product.

3. Finally, we are a smaller company and do not currently have the scale or resources of big food companies. As we grow and purchase at more scale, we hope to be able to pass along those savings to our consumers.

Shipping & Wait Time

How long does it take to ship my order?

If we have pasta in stock, we generally fulfill all orders within 48 hours of your purchase. Once shipped, the average transit time is 3-4 days, though some orders may take up to 5-6 days depending on where you live.

Why charge for shipping?

We wish we didn’t have to, but unfortunately shipping is super expensive. The shipping charge doesn't even cover the full cost, Kaizen covers the balance. We try to keep shipping costs as low as possible while also providing super fast shipping.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we only ship to US customers, but we are working hard to make our international friends happy soon! Please follow us on social media, @KaizenFoodCo for the latest developments.
