FAQ

Purchasing & Returns

While our lowcarb protein pasta comes as close to a regular pasta experience as it gets, its not the exact same as regular pasta. For that to happen, you'd need lots of starch and carbs!

If you are unsure whether our pasta is right for you, please only purchase a single 2 pack of the pasta as we do not offer any refunds on any purchase.

If you received an incorrect order, or your order arrived damaged, please email us at hello@kaizenfoodcompany.com no later than 14 days after receiving your order along with photos of what you received or the damage so we can send you a replacement.

Customers can purchase our products directly on our website at kaizenfoodcompany.com. We ship anywhere in the US and are working hard to begin shipping to our international community as soon as possible.

🇨🇦🇨🇦Canadian customers can find us on Amazon Canada, NaturaMarket.ca SwitchGrocery.ca, Lowcarb Canada.

We are selectively rolling out to specialty grocery stores throughout the US and would love to join your neighborhood. Let your local store know if you’d like to see us on their shelves!

Pasta & Cooking Directions

Just cook it as you would normal pasta - in a large pot of salted boiling water!

Depending on the shape, our pasta cooks in anywhere from 4-7 minutes.

We invite you to experiment with cooking times to find the right cook time for you and your family.

Our pasta is made of the lupini bean, so it tastes pretty similar to a legume pasta (think chickpea or lentil!) With a great sauce, it takes on the flavor of whatever pasta dish you're cooking. Our original Kaizen pasta cooks up to a great pasta texture and consistency in just 5-7 minutes. Just experiment with cooking times to find the best time for you

General Product Questions

The foundation of Kaizen is high quality lupini bean flour. We also use fava bean protein, tapioca starch, and xanthan gum in our Original Kaizen pasta and rice products. Our Even Fewer Carbs pasta only uses lupini beans and xanthan gum.

In short, instead of regular flour or semolina, we use lupini bean flour! Lupini beans are versatile, low in carbs, and have a great nutrition profile. They have long been considered a superfood and pack a ton of protein, fiber, and nutrients.

Our Original Kaizen pasta and rice contain only 6 net carbs. Net carbs are calculated by taking the total carbohydrates in the product (in this case 21) and deducting the total dietary fiber (in this case 15). 21 grams of total carbohydrates, minus 15 grams of total dietary fiber, results in 6 net carbs.

Yes

We have a lot of customers with diabetes that enjoy our products and have not had any reports of spiked blood sugars. As always, consult your doctor to determine if a particular food is right for you.

Yes, we are certified by Oregon Kosher.

We produce our pasta in a dedicated gluten free facility and do not use any of the top 8 allergens. Lupini beans are a legume belonging to the same plant family as peanuts. We would recommend you consult with your doctor before consuming any new food product, including Kaizen.

All of our products are made in the United States.

Our pasta is shelf stable and is best enjoyed within 1 year of your purchase. Please store pasta in a cool, dry space to best maintain freshness.

True to our name, Kaizen, we will continuously improve which includes doing everything we can to make our product more affordable over time. At this time, there are three key factors:

1. Higher quality ingredients are expensive. Our ingredients are naturally more expensive compared to normal starchy ingredients. Regular pasta flour is about 5 times cheaper than the flour we use. Chickpeas are about half the cost. Lupini beans are naturally more expensive because they arent mass produced to the extent other crops are.

2. We take zero shortcuts. We only purchase the highest quality ingredients from reputable suppliers who have the highest quality standards. We tried and tested a number of ingredients during our testing, and in many cases chose the more expensive option in order to provide you with the best possible product.

3. Finally, we are a smaller company and do not currently have the scale or resources of big food companies. As we grow and purchase at more scale, we hope to be able to pass along those savings to our consumers.

Shipping & Wait Time

If we have pasta in stock, we generally fulfill all orders within 48 hours of your purchase. Once shipped, the average transit time is 3-4 days, though some orders may take up to 5-6 days depending on where you live.

We wish we didn’t have to, but unfortunately shipping is super expensive. The shipping charge doesn't even cover the full cost, Kaizen covers the balance. We try to keep shipping costs as low as possible while also providing super fast shipping.

At this time, we only ship to US customers, but we are working hard to make our international friends happy soon! Please follow us on social media, @KaizenFoodCo for the latest developments.
