Instead of regular flour or semolina, we use lupini bean flour! Lupini beans are versatile, low in carbs, and have a great nutrition profile. They have long been considered a superfood and pack a ton of protein, fiber, and nutrients.

Please pay close attention to the cook times suggested on the packaging!

If the pasta/rice tastes too hard, try cooking for just a bit longer. If the pasta/rice tastes too soft or mushy, it was overcooked.

Please remember to salt your water and stir frequently to ensure pasta cooks evenly.

For Fusilli, we recommend no more than 4-5 minutes. For other shapes, we recommend 5-6 minutes, but your time may be a touch longer. Experiment with cook times to find what works best for you. Enjoy!

Kaizen cooks a lot faster than regular pasta, in anywhere from 4-6 minutes. This time varies by shape, so please reference the packaging instructions, make sure you boil in generously salted water, and do not overcook! As with any pasta alternative, please experiment with cooking times to find the right cooking time for you and your family. It's important to salt your water and not overboil the pasta.

For Rice:
Our rice cooks very similarly to pasta. In a large pot of boiling water, add a generous amount of salt, add your rice, and cook to your desired firmness. Some foaming is normal. Remember that you will need to strain your rice, and we recommend rinsing it when cooked.

We recommend tasting the rice around the 5 minute mark to see if it is to your liking. If you prefer a softer rice, cook it for 1-3 more minutes. Taste buds and preferences can vary by person, and cook times can be affected by several factors, including temperature, your stove, and even your altitude. We invite you to experiment with cook times to see what you prefer best!

For Mac & Cheese:

Kaizen cooks a lot faster than regular mac and cheese, in anywhere from 4-6 minutes. Please reference the packaging instructions, make sure you boil in generously salted water, and do not overcook! It is important you use regular dairy (half and half, light cream, or heavy cream work best). Do not use a plant-based milk.

For Flour:
You can swap out a portion of your traditional flour, or go as far as swapping out the entire amount, depending on your recipe!

For Salt Discs

Salt Discs are designed to take the guesswork out of salting pasta water. Drop 1 Salt Disc into 6 cups of water, bring to a boil, then add your pasta. That’s it.

Perfectly salted water is the foundation of great pasta. It seasons the pasta from the inside out, enhancing flavor before sauce ever touches it. Salt Discs ensure consistent results every time, no measuring and no guessing required.

In short, we think so! Kaizen has 3x the protein of other pasta, 85% fewer carbs, and uses lupini beans as the main ingredient, which contain all 9 amino acids.

We know the price is a bit higher than you’d see for that of regular or even chickpea pasta alternatives, but it’s because our high quality ingredients offer so much more nutrition. Lupini beans are 4x more expensive than that of regular pasta ingredients, and pack a ton more nutrition. Our pasta has 85% fewer carbs and 3x the protein of regular pasta, all while being plant-based, gluten-free, non-gmo, kosher, and diabetic friendly.

This really depends on the individual, your overall diet, gut health, and food intolerances in general. Kaizen does have high fiber and offers more fiber than normal pasta and rice. Since it’s made from lupini beans, gas/bloating may happen, especially for those who are intolerant to beans.

If this is a concern, we recommend starting off with a smaller serving size, and building up as you go to build your body’s tolerance to fiber.

Rinsing the pasta/rice after it’s cooked can also help shed some of the oligosaccharides (the gas-causing components!) from the bean. 

Our products have just 2-6g net carbs per serving, so it’s keto-friendly! Net carbs are total carbs minus dietary fiber. 

While we can’t guarantee it as everyone’s different, we have lots of happy customers with diabetes, and we have not received any reports of Kaizen spiking blood sugar levels.

Allergens
We produce our products in a dedicated gluten free facility. We do not use any of the top 8 allergens, with the exception of the Mac & Cheese (which uses dairy).Lupini beans are a legume belonging to the same plant family as peanuts. We would recommend you consult with your doctor before consuming any new food product, including Kaizen.

We test our products regularly, our recent independent 3rd party lab testing was not able to detect the presence of any glyphosates in our pasta or rice products.

We have a lot of customers with diabetes that enjoy our products and have not had any reports of spiked blood sugars. As always, consult your doctor to determine if a particular food is right for you.

Kosher
All of our products, including the pasta, rice, mac & cheese, and lupin flour, are certified Kosher by Oregon Kosher.

Our pasta is shelf stable and is best enjoyed within 2 years of your purchase. Please store pasta in a cool, dry space to best maintain freshness.

All of our products are made in the USA, with the exception of our Salt Discs, which are made in Tramonti, Italy.

Kaizen is currently going through a packaging transition. As we begin displaying the new look, there will be a short transition period where some customers may receive previous packaging.

The new packaging is simply a better reflection of how great Kaizen already is. Same ingredients. Same macros. Same performance. During this transition, you may receive either version. It’s still 100% Kaizen inside.

If you received an incorrect order, please email us with clear photos of both the interior and exterior of the box within 10 business days so we can issue a replacement. We cannot process incorrect order claims without both the interior and exterior photos of your shipment.

We wish we didn’t have to, but unfortunately shipping is super expensive. The shipping charge doesn't even cover the full cost, Kaizen covers the balance. We try to keep shipping costs as low as possible while also providing super fast shipping.

While we wish we could offer single boxes, especially for first-time buyers, due to high shipping costs, it’s not economical for us to ship single packages at the moment. We do offer 2packs of our pasta and rice. If it is your first time trying Kaizen, we highly recommend starting off with a 2pack.

While we can’t guarantee a specific carrier for your delivery, if you have any special shipping requirements, please contact us before placing your order so we can help find the best solution.

Please note: We’re unable to accommodate carrier preferences after an order is placed, and we cannot be responsible for any returned packages due to shipping requirements not communicated to us in advance. Our priority is to make sure your package gets to you smoothly, so don’t hesitate to reach out beforehand!

Shipping Protection is optional and it gives you peace of mind with coverage if your package is damaged in transit, stolen, or does not arrive. 

You can turn Shipping Protection on or off in your cart with a quick toggle. With this optional coverage, you are protected in the event of a shipping issue. If something goes wrong with your order, we will replace the order or issue a refund.

If something happens with your shipment, please contact our team within 10 business days of the issue at support@kaizenfoodcompany.com with your order number, and we will work with you to resolve the issue. Again, please ensure you send us photos of both the interior and exterior of your package if there is damage.

Shipping Protection is completely optional, but we recommend it for apartments, shared mailrooms, businesses, and during peak shipping seasons.
